Terms and Conditions

General - The following Terms and Conditions apply to all services provided by Declutter with Mel.

By using the site and my services, you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions.

These Terms and Conditions supersede all prior agreements and (together with the Privacy Statement) are complete and exclusive. 

No addition, amendment or modification of these Terms and Conditions shall be effective, unless in writing and signed or accepted by me.

Declutter with Mel is on the understanding that you have agreed to my Terms and Conditions. 

All information disclosed by you will be kept strictly confidential.

Declutter with Mel reserves the right to change any of the Terms and Conditions at any time and without prior notice.

General information about a session - Decluttering can be both physically and emotionally demanding, so during a session we may need to take occasional breaks for a few minutes. 

Best Advice - Declutter with Mel will provide advice and encouragement in the decluttering and organising process. Ultimately, it is the client’s decision whether or not to keep particular possessions. Declutter with Mel therefore, can’t accept any responsibility for the consequences of such decisions.

Declutter with Mel is not a valuer of antiques or the likes, therefore, the client accepts responsibility for either keeping or letting go of any such items. Clients are advised to seek their own valuations of any items.

Handling of goods - Items are handled with care by Declutter with Mel. In the case of any accidental damage or loss caused in my engagement, however caused, Declutter with Mel shall not be liable and rely on you to carry insurance at all times which adequately compensates you for loss or damage. I am however insured for Public and Product Liability.

Removal of items - Any items that are to be taken away from your property, i.e. either for disposal or to other locations, must be at your own discretion and with your authorisation. You accept responsibility for all items disposed of in the decluttering process. I can help with disposal such as taking items to charity shops for you - I offer one complimentary charity shop drop (No furniture). I can also arrange to shred paperwork for you (for a fee). It is not possible to get items back that you have agreed to dispose of.

Payment - Payment is accepted by cash or BACs payments.

Payment Terms - Declutter with Mel charge’s different rates depending on the day and time of the week. 

Declutter with Mel does not charge for local travel within 5 miles of Caldicot, but anything outside of this area may incur an additional travel fee of 45p per mile. This will be agreed before commencing.

A 50% deposit is required when booking and confirming your first session date. The deposit will then be deducted from your final bill or returned to you separately at the end of our sessions together (subject to our cancellation policy below).

Payment is requested via an invoice after each session for the services and any products provided and is to be paid that same day. 

Rates may be subject to change. You will be notified of any change to the rates 30 days in advance.

Cancellation - If the cancellation is made within 48 hours of the booked session, and no replacement session is booked, a charge of 50% of the fee will be due. 

Subject to an emergency (once session times have been agreed) if an appointment is cut short by yourself, I will still charge you for the full booked session. 

Also, if a session over runs, an additional charge will be made, up to the next quarter of an hour.

Please don’t cancel if you are feeling nervous or demotivated, once the session gets going you will feel at ease and enthused.

Confidentiality and Privacy - Declutter with Mel is a personal and confidential service; therefore, client details will not be disclosed to any third party. 

Your privacy is protected, information is stored according to GDPR regulations.

Any testimonial and/or reviews provided by the client will only be reproduced with the knowledge and consent of the client concerned. Any photos taken before, during and after the decluttering process will only be used with the client’s consent. Therefore:

You provide consent for Declutter with Mel to take ‘before’ photos of the work.

You provide consent for Declutter with Mel to take ‘during’ photos of the work.

You provide consent for Declutter with Mel to take ‘after’ photos of the work.

You provide consent for Declutter with Mel to share these images confidentially on social media.

You provide consent for Declutter with Mel to share feedback/comments regarding the session, which have been provided by yourself via messenger, confidentially on her social media.
